Day 1 Living Hope Devotion
Beloved,
‘I am the way, and the truth, and life. John 14:6 (ESV)
I want to share with you the depth of my name Jesus.
My name Jesus in Greek is Iēsous, a translation of the Hebrew Yehoshua‛, meaning “Jehovah saved.” My name proclaims a completed act—I have already saved. The work has been completed. Salvation is not a future hope, it is a present reality for those who by faith believe.
My name Jesus comes from Jehovah, meaning “self-existent” or “eternal.” I was not created—I am the eternal One, the unchanging and everlasting God. I am the same yesterday, today, and forever. I am not bound by time, and neither is my love for you.
The Hebrew word Yâsha‛ will give you more understanding into my name, Jesus. It means to be open, free, safe; to defend, deliver, rescue, save, and give victory. That is who I am. I am the One who opens doors. I am your Rescuer who pulls you up and out of the miry clay. I am your Defender who stands between you and the accuser of the brethren. I am your Savior who has won the victory—not just for the world, but for you.
Beloved, I am inviting you into a relationship with me. I am the way, the truth, and the life. I am not distant from you. I stand at the door and knock. Today if you would like, open the door of your heart to me. Let me come in and share with you all the promises you have available in me. Let us do life together. Life may not be easy, but I will be there with you. I love you.
With all my love,
Yeshua
The way, truth and life
Prayer: Jesus, Your name declares what You have already done—you have saved me. You are my freedom, my safety, my Defender, and my Victory. I open the door of my heart to you, and thank you for all your promises I get to discover in you. Amen.
