Praying the Word of God is powerful, and you're right: in Hebrew, the word "דָּבָר" (Dabar) means both word and promise. This reflects the eternal trustworthiness of God's spoken and written Word. It means when we pray His Word, we are praying His very promises — His intent, His truth, His power in action.
Let’s do this using only the Amplified Bible and bringing in the Hebrew Paleo (Ancient Hebrew pictograph) understanding of the word Dabar (דָּבָר).
Isaiah 55:11 (AMP):
“So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result),Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
Hebrew Word Focus: דָּבָר (Dabar)
Dabar = Word / Promise Paleo-Hebrew pictograph for דָּבָר:
Dalet (𐤃) – Door, pathway
Bet (𐤁) – House, family
Resh (𐤓) – Head, first, authority
Meaning in pictographs: The word (Dabar) is the door (𐤃) to the house (𐤁) of the Most High's authority (𐤓).
In essence: God's Word is the doorway into His covenant and authority.
